Samsung Galaxy Z Flip First Impressions

The fresh Galaxy Z flip so we knew this one was coming once you're gonna get a vertical folding phone from Samsung of some kind there's many leaks out there the  finally got it and now that I've had my hands on my feelings are very mixed very mixed so I've held this phone now in my hands for maybe half an hour which i have had fleeting moments with it on and off for slightly longer than that and on one hand it seems like it's easily the foremost polished and mature folding phone yet but on the opposite hand it still features a great distance to travel to be something i might actually buy and it still has its flaws so let me just start with the specs right off the highest so it's got flagship internals unlike another folding phones well I mean unlike the Moto razor let's just call it what it's I'm gonna be comparing it tons to the opposite folding flagship phone the razor doesn't have flagship specs but the Z flip it does it's got the
snapdragon 855 + 8 GB of RAM 256 GB of storage and a combined 3300 mAH battery which is okay and it still has wireless charging which is sweet you've and you have got dual cameras here 112 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel ultra wide these specs on paper just about wipe the ground with the razor I'll just say it I mean you'll not help but compare the 2 maybe you allow a thumbs abreast of this video if you'd like to ascertain a separate dedicated razor versus Z flip video either way twiddling with the Z flip you'll see they've made some different design and material choices that make it a really different phone the most one being the screen so this is often often now an ultra thin folding glass not plastic and you'll feel that directly when swiping around and using this screen it's n't a soft plastic that you simply can almost literally dig your fingernails into it's glass so that's an excellent advancement

it's hard it is a six point seven inch 21:9 display 1080p OLED 60 rertz and it's that hole punch cut out for the selfie camera up top rather than a notch and far thinner bezels so of these things make it desire more of a Samsung flagship than the other folding phone but the crease the crease to me remains major I saw it from many different angles I used it for several various things and there's just no way around it it is a really noticeable crease i might say it's better than the first Galaxy fold but here's the thing since this is a vertical folding phone and therefore the refore the same thing goes for the razor because
it's vertical folding the creases across the middle here and that means whenever you employ the phone anytime you are doing any scrolling running kind of using the UI you're constantly moving over that center crease and you're constantly constantly feeling the middle of that fold together with your finger so unlike a horizontal folding phone you've really noticed it tons here and you'll feel it when your finger swipes over it over and over and once again now I still prefer it to the razor's plastic display because that one feels a touch more delicate and softer but I'm not gonna sit here and tell you the crease is gone or anything I mean you'll clearly see it then once we close the phone the front cover display is that the other different choice so they've basically just put a small 1-inch 300 by 1:12 display on the surface of the fold and really all is good for is that the time and seeing a touch preview of your notifications some people
like me maybe fine of a touch extra functionality on the surface just like the razor has so you'll actually enter your notifications and skim stuff like texts and emails but within the Z flip it just tell you purchased a text or who it's from and really if you would wish to open it or actually do anything you've got to unfold the phone but also if you double tap the facility button you'll actually open the the first camera and take selfies with it and use that one-inch cover display as like the world's most hilariously tiny view finder it's there it's fine you can use it i assume but I probably won't i feel most of the people will take selfies with the traditional selfie camera due to the ultimate major design update the hinge I i do not think this will be overstated hinges are extremely important for folding phones and learning from your past to form better ones is gonna be something we start to ascertain and that i think Samsung learned tons already from
their first Chen Galaxy fold and the things that went wrong with it and that we can already see that here during this second-generation hinge the Z flip features a specialized hinge I'd say the simplest hinge I've seen yet it's nearly gapless and Samsung says it's put a bunch of small fibers sort of a sort of a brush inside this hinge to offer it even more protection from anything accidentally getting inside it still won't pass the jerry-rigged everything poor a test but it's another step within the right direction then the hinge weight is additionally very nice I desire I could open this phone with one hand far more easily and it is a three step hinge meaning you'll fold the phone half way sort of a little laptop and set it down surface and it just sit that way letting you employ half
the screen at a time then they've even inbuilt a number of their apps to require advantage of this including the camera and therefore the refore the gallery and even Google's duo video calls now I didn't get a solution on if this is often an open API developers are you able to know change their apps to use this fold too but it might appear to be a no brainer like taking advantage of getting a hinge that's this impressive and keeps the phone this well-balanced rim tipping over would be great so that's three major ways in which the Z flip in differentiating lot of higher than another folding phones the duvet display on the surface it's different the specs and the build quality which hinge then another small things I noticed the fingerprint reader is on the facility button right below the quantity buttons so quite like they did with the handful of pebbles directly onto the phone.

Galaxy S 10 Lite i prefer that and no there's no headphone jack sorry if you thought they might be one and therefore the bezels are pretty thick initially but the more you employ the phone the more you realize they're necessary for shielding the glass once you close it just like the screen sits just barely sub flush so once you close the phone you are not slamming glass into glass here closing bezel on bezel so yeah overall I'm very curious to ascertain what you guys consider the Z flip to me it's really fascinating but it's to be slightly quite just fascinating to be worth $1,380 we thought it would be slightly bit cheaper those rumors of it

undercutting the razor began to intumesce but it's 1380 bucks but I still can't wait to review this thing i would like to ascertain the battery life is like with a 3300 milliamp hour battery and a huge screen i would like to ascertain how the sturdiness which hinge lasts over time these are some belongings you aren't getting I'm glad folding phones are literally evolving as fast as they will maybe who knows and three or four generations will have the incredibly sleek thin bezel is 120Hz Refresh Rate awesome folding devices iPad size screens in our pockets that's all an enormous maybe but that's what I hope we're working
